cam installation questions!
Hey, when you put in a new cam, what else (besides the vavle springs) do you have to do? Bearings? rods? I just want to find out now so I don't get any surprises at the shop. y'all know what i'm talking about, when they give you the bill and you do this: :-staun

Lifters & break in lube for one. You might get tapped for springs, retainers, locks & pushrods, but the only one of those that might be needed is the springs if the cam require different springs.
Most good shops would check the condition of the push rods, springs... but some say buy new everything.

Don't forget the front cover seal. Also inspect the balancer sleeve for wear. Sometimes you'll find a groove worn in it from the old seal. Felpro sells a repair sleeve for it if you find it worn. ARP sells a new cam bolt for a few bucks - cheap insurance. Check the push rods and rocker arm assemblies for wear. Push rods are cheap if you need a new set.
