Trans coolers
Spent a little time in West Texas and New Mexico myself. You should not need to run into the rad unless you are up in the mountains at Alb or further North. I did the 175/195 thermostat myself while living in the Sandia's.
Most of the time trannys can get by fine with minimal cooling. It is the extremes or work times that cause the temp trouble. Converters with more stall can get hairy quick. I had one that could take a tranny to 300 deg in less than 15 secs with a condenser as a cooler while brake torquing. Crappy converter.
in LC and TorC area.
go thru missle range a lot and to AZ.
Texas canyon runnig east in June on 10 sure makes your watch the readouts.
but around s NM
running ambient air temp. when just running empty.
i know the e4od seem to do better running cool as to what i read. Was in Ruidoso over w. end. trans. never got even warm. so i guess its doing its job....
175 is not to warm?? i guess.... this is not a p/s engine 460..
i got close sitting and waiting.
once i started moving again. back down to like 100. just have these two coolers in front of the rad.. no fans.
and i was fully loaded box trailer with car and HD in it.
i like your body swap.
would like to put mid 90's crew on my 69 f-250 with little tiny bed in back...
Clean it out with some gasfirst, then carb cleaner, then some hot water and soap, then flush with water, Let it dry completely. Run some trans fluid through it make sure it is coming out pretty clean just run the same 8 oz through a few times then some fresh. Make some brackets and mount it run the lines to it either omit or run it from in rad cooler. You can make the cooler as big as you want by searching around.
