Just came into possession of a '90 E-350 Ambulance with 82,000 original miles on the 7.3 (non-turbo). Diesels are a whole new ballgame to me. Was wondering where I can find for sale a service manual that's akin to what a factory/dealer technician/mechanic might have.
It runs fairly well now since replacing the fuel filter and pouring fresh fuel in the tank (it had been sitting for the last two years without being run), but it is still hard to start. Yesterday for example, was 90 degrees outside, yet it still required excessive cranking to get started. Once started, it acts like it's laboring to get up on the fast idle, but it smooths out after about 10 seconds, after which time it idles and runs fine. Any and all help is appreciated. I know my way around gasoline V8's, but diesels are all new to me.
Ford factory manuals are publshed by Helm (www.Helm.com). A little pricey but this is what the dealers use. They tend to go out of print after the demend peters out but I have had some luck on eBAY (also cheaper).
