Well, many of us knew everything when we were young. Didn't we get a rude awakening!

My cousin will be pleased to know that the engine in his Pinto is actually a FE then, he always thought it was a small block...

FE = Ford Edsel
MEL (383, 430, 462) Mercury Edsel Lincoln
there was a theme going back then.
a question? I read somwhere that Edsel had a 410, was it the same bore/stroke as the 66-67 Mercury 410?

Yeah, Edsel had a 410 MEL in '58 only, called the E475. We just got done talking about it here:
https://www.ford-trucks.com/dcforum/DCForumID7/779.html
The 410 MEL bore= 4.20, stroke= 3.70
The 410 FE bore= 4.05, stroke= 3.98
These MEL's when souped up were high-winding engines for it's day. Rodney Singer won the '59 National Drag Racing Championship "Mr. Eliminator" title with a blown 480 Lincoln in a dragster running 9.76 at 152.
