Well, I started my Gallery and I'm sure a lot of you will prolly think I am crazy for how I did what I did.......but now that it's all together and drives great.....more finished pics to come .
whoa, that's rad!!! in the not very cool sort of way. the original mod that is. Looks like some fantastic rework.
my truck had a crossmember poorly welded in to support a 289. They L'd the ends of the tube, set it on top of the (rusty?, crusty?, greasy?, grimy?) frame and "welded" away. Little to no penetration, cracking welds when I found it. Promptly cut that out and ground away the avian-feces "welds". Luckily, not as hacked as yours.
My steering box wasn't stuck on top of the frame like that, it would have been easier if it had. My po flame cut a grapefruit sized hole in the frame, then welded the steering box to a piece of 1/2" plate and "welded" that to the frame. It wasn't an easy repair, but at least I had the top and bottom of the frame intact. I commend you for tackling that repair, that's pretty major damage, but certainly worth saving.
Use to be I could turn one out in about 5 months......now that I'm going on 61 I've become a little slower......but the enthusiasm is still there !
Thanks for all the compliments....it sure is a blast to drive!

Dupont Hot Hues Hot Rod Black is the paint. Not a perfect garage paint job but it'll have to do for now.
The texture on the dash,,,,,,,believe this or not..... is rolled-on Duplicolor Bed Liner! I wanted it to be diffeent and clutter-free; thus all of the switches and ignition were under the seat. I wound up not liking them under seat and installed a self-designed under-the-dash extension to hold the switches and ignition and AC louvers. Will take pictures today.
A couple other original ideas are my Billet spikes here and there which I make at work on the lathe. Pics to come. I have threatened to stratigically place some of them on the running boards to deter people from stepping on the running boards to get in! Also added one inch to width of rear fenders ....now the rear wheels and tires fit great. Tilt front. frenched antenna...All pics to come today.
