interior lights stay on

just bought a v10 2000 x with 87000 miles on it and the interior lights wont shut off.i tried to clean the door locks out and shoot them with wd-40 and open and close the doors a few hundred times and nothing works.today i went out and the battery is dead and its clicking under the dash.looks to be the origenal battery.i need to get this fixed so that my wife wont be stuck somewhere. any help would be great

If the back door is the problem can you do something with the sensor back there to make it stay permanently engaged thus keeping light off?

Spray wd-40 in the door latch of each door. That will fix it. I have to do mine once a year...

motorcraft has a "door latch lubricant" available, it is a cleaner//lubricant in one and works like a charm-- i only have to do mine every other year!! i'm lookin at the can but i don't see a part# on it.. the cleaner part gets the sludge off and the lubricant, well,, it lubricates

I had this problem not long ago. Turned out to be I had not shut the rear glass tightly and securely.

Go back there and put some muscle into closing it. It might work for you like it did me.

You guys are great. The WD 40 trick on the rear hatch latches fixed the problem. Thanks a million for the help.

radio question

My radio stays on when I shut off the engine. It goes off when I open the door. When I was having my interior light problem it never seemed to affect the radio.

Hope this helps? If not just ask again.
Jerry
