contacted Ford
I went to the Ford website and sent them an e-mail asking what was being done about 5.4L plugs breaking off. I stated that my dealership suggested that these engines get done at about 60,000 to try and prevent the issue. I asked what they thought this would do to my trade-in value when compared to a chevy when both vehicles were at 100,000 miles and the Ford engine was looking down a possible $3,000 spark plug change. I stated that they needed to get in front of the issue or go the way of AMC. The freight train is coming, what's your move?

Don't feel bad ZRXKUMA. I spent more time and energy than that calling many(and I mean many) Ford Service Departments at the Dealerships to inquire the "BEST" thing to do. Got every answer under the sun, from not messing with them til 100k to changing them out early. It was ridiculous what answers I was getting. Some said change on a hot motor, others a cold motor. Soak with this, don't soak with that. It's a shame it's been ONLY 4 years now and nothing has been found to consistantly and reliably get these darn things out. Like I've said before, I plan to wait til 100k and have done. The crap is about to hit the fan within the next year and Ford is going to have to answer to many thousand owners of this lovely 5.4 3v invention.
