Hypertech wasted my money!!!
In an effort to improve the gas mileage on our 'new to us' '04 Expedition, I bought a K&N Filtercharger, Magnaflow exhaust and a Hypertech Max Energy programmer. I was very excited to get all of this...even though it was a lot of money to get all at once. I've never done anything like this before, but read all about what everyone else does and wanted to get in on the action!
So Saturday morning that's exactly what I planned on doing. The K&N Filterchager was first, and went in OK...the directions weren't great, but it was easy enough to figure out the gaps. The Magnaflow exhaust was next and went in OK too. A tight fit, but once in...it was great! (And my old exhaust bolts weren't even rusted to the point where they were all that hard to remove!)
So I thought I was set...the easiest for last. Wrong!
All this thing did was erase my PCM and make the truck inoperable! But wait, it gets worse! Then I call the 1-800 number to get help, and they are closed...only open 8 to 5 Monday through Friday! What a coincidence...that's also exactly when I work too!!! (Not really, I actually work from about 6:30 or 7 to 5, but that's my own fault!)
So now I've got a truck that doesn't run and I can't do anything until Monday morning at 8 o'clock. I'm already not happy. But figured that it was probably something simple that I had overlooked and they would have me up and running in no time on Monday morning. Wrong again!
After walking through what the problem was, and getting no where. The moron on their Customer (anti)Service line actually said to me once he realized that he couldn't fix my problem that he wished he could wave a magic wand and make it work...but he couldn't! Sorry, but that just didn't make me feel much better!!!
Nor did him suggesting to me that I remove the computer and send it to him along with their worthless programmer so that they could fix it. And just not have our truck for three or four days...more!
I figured this could only get worse if I listened to these idiots again, so to make a long story short (sorry...too late for that), I had the Expedition towed to the dealership and had them reprogram the computer back to stock. And that all cost as much as the programmer that I am now returning. So I'm out a lot of money for nothing...not that the Hypertech idiots care!
Not only will I never buy something from these crooks again, but I hope that I can discourage as much business away from them as possible!!! Since I get a lot of good information here from all of you...I figured this was a great place to start!
So please, as a favor to me, do not waste your time on any product from Hypertech!
Thanks for your time, and letting me vent!
Scott
I know I have come to expect that not everything that I wish to turn out does; however, I have gutted out enough of these endeavors to earn my signature.
Please let us know if there is anything we can do for you, and just for grins you might want to post your experience in the chips form we have here: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/forum46/
They might have been able to get you out of your bind before you had an opportunity to contact Hypertech support.
