Purge cooling system?

This is probably a dumb question but yesterday when I was topping up my coolant I wondered how you would purge the system if you had to or to make sure it was purged. I've read that it's improtant that The cooling system must be completely full and purge of air to prevent EGR cooler damage.

As the system is designed to cycle fluid through the expansion tank, it will purge via normal operation.
