Drivetrain swap

hi guys i was wondering if a 400M, 4-speed trans and transfer case out of a 1979 f250 will fit in a 1984 f250 and what it takes to make it happen. thanks

I couldn't see why not. I look for the motor mounts and such for an 80-82 truck cause they were available with the 400 from the factory.

yeah, 2wd, not sure. but my 79 bronco 4x4 400 dropped right into my '83 f250 4x4 with the original 79 mounts. I had to put a fuel pump on from the 80-82 version to clear the frame. The frame even had holes for mechanical linkage(79 wouldn't work-needs to be 80-82), but I think going hydraulic would be easier. '84 might not have holes for mech. linkage. I used a 4 speed man. and used the original '83's tcase(bw1345) and driveshafts. The '83 had a 302 originally.....a 300 6 will be different, i think.
