Ok, I have a 99 3/4 with 7.3. Lately the engine dies on me going down the road. It usually does it when I am at low speeds or at idle. Sometimes it catches back up and others I have to restart. It has 151,000 miles on it and I service it regular. I just changed the fuel filter thinking I may have had water in the fuel. I even bought diesel at another place and still the same problem. Sometimes the check engine light comes on when it dies and stays on. If I re-start the check engine light goes off. Anyone have any similar problems? I can not Isolate this to electrical or fuel.

Sounds like the CPS is going out. Get the B code one at your ford dealer for about 25.00. Use a 10mm closed end wrench. Takes about 5 mins to change. That is the first place to start. Cheap fix.
If you bring this down to the 7.3 forum and search CPS there is lots of info about this. Very common for it to go out.
get 2 cps's keep 1 in the glove box put 1 on the truck & she'll be like new, welcome to the only real 7.3 weak spot I got where I could change them in the dark on the side of the road in less than 15 minutes.
