I have decided I am going to try to look for another 7.3. Well I have found two, a late 99 F-250 XLT 6 speed Ext. Cab SB 4x4 gold, 133K for 15.5K great shape clutch is in good shape one small ding in the fender. 01 F-350 Flatbed XLT Ext. Cab SB black 6 Speed 4x4 on the floor with vinyl floor and power seats. 139K 17, I know a six speed isn't the way to go for racing but I have taken an interest in them. First off what if any aftermarket clutch will make it easier I have never drove a ZF-6 and both of them you about have to stand on them.I think they are good priced compared to waht I have seen so far, nothing as good as my ol' green. A local ford stealer went out of there minds and placed 29K on a 01 F-250 Crew SB Lariat with 79K in great shape and they tried to argue with me that was the going price on 7.3s, lets just say I had a few choice words for them. I have not missed truck shopping one bit
its bad when I know more about the truck then the dealer or the person selling it.... I'd appricate anyone keeping an eye out for me I miss the sound of a 7.3 turning over..

Hey but the ball keeps rolling....... I'd recommend a 6-speed. I'm not one to race anyway, and i still wish i had a stick in my hand 90% of the time im driving my truck. You won't regret getting one. Throw in an aftermarket clutch, i heard LUK and Southbend both have much lighter pedal feel, buttery smooth. I personally don't like gold but to each his own.
from the couple of guys in DRD who have valair clutches they love them. i personally dont have one so i couldnt tell you how it feels. but like kris i would much rather have a handshaker than an automatic.

JD, you've waited this long to replace ol green, take your time and shop around. I understand there is a used dealer in Gadsden or Anniston AL that takes great pains in looking for Super Duties. I dont remember the name but will try to find it for you tomorrow.

Welcome back JD, that was quicker than I thought. I would get an auto if I was you, but I am not. Don't waste a lot of time at the dealer. There are plenty of used dealers that sell them as well as private sales. I will keep a lookout. I know a couple lots that have a few 7.3s here. I will check them out when I go back on patrol on Wed. Investigation you know.

Well I really didn't wait this long, the truck just got totalled last week after a month I get the check later this week hopefully. It does look like I might have to do some distance driving to go find one.
I appricate it Mike, its just a few hours to middle TN, I wish I could find another private seller there just isn't any in the paper anymore. I have been looking at small used lots just thought what the heck for a dealer. I have heard about a large truck dealer up in Lexington KY but I don't know what the name of it is.
Yep Kris thats what I am thinking just the fun of going through the gears of a 6 sp but after I get off work after driving a loader all day wouldn't be so fun going through city traffic, might have to be the weekend truck.

Get the '99 and fix the dent unless you have a need for a flatbed. You'll love the six speed.
I live in a very crowded urban environment and still like the stick. Truck stays in neutral and my foot off of the clutch until it's time to go. Then I step on the clutch, put it in gear and go. Very little duty time for the throwout bearing.
