front bumper mounts

is there a difference in the bumper mounting points between the ranger and the bronco 2? im looking at getting a brush guard/grill guard and havent seen any for the b-2, but a few for the ranger. also looking at a small lift, would explorer springs work or should i just get a lift kit. i only want to go about 2 inches higher.

ranger and BII are the exact same thing as far as front bumpers and mounts.

There's plenty of manufacturers that sells new 2" lift springs cheap, dont know about how the explorer springs would work as far as how much lift

Explorer springs will give you close to 2 inches.

All the front end things are exactly the same, I have a grill off a Ranger on my BII right now. Except for being a SUV and a shorter wheelbase, they are basically the same vehicle.

Just like a F-150/full sized Bronco.

I just put the explorer springs in my truck and i love it! I would have done it years ago if I had known how much better they are. My truck rides a bit more stiff, but now its doesn't wallow all over the place like it did with the older softer springs. If you do it I would recommend getting some heavy duty shocks as the stiffer springs toasted my old light duty ones in no time.

took me less than an hour to do the fronts with the right tools. The backs took me about two hours to complete with all tools on hand. The front you will need a big 1-1/8 wrench to take off the bolt that holds the coils in place, you should also disconnect the front sway bar to make is easier. The back is the pain, you will need an 18mm deep socket for the u-bolt nuts and I beleive a 22mm or 21mm for the front shackle. The rear springs shackle is 3/4 or it might have been metric I do not recall but on all of them having a 1/2inch breaker bar will make life so easy. the hardest part was for me getting the springs of the explorer at the pick a part.

Quick advice though....I decided to get my front coils from a explorer with the heavy duty spring package. The rears I got off and Normal explorer that have a 4 leaf pack. This setup allows my truck to have good flex on the trail and also keep body roll and wallowing in check on the front end.

I thougt the rear springs on the Explorer mount under the axle and the Bronco II are over the axle. How high did the rear lift ? did you reverse the center pin? I have a pair of Explorer springs from a 2000 that I was sizing up to put in a 1990 BII.

I'm not sure if the rear leaf springs on the 2wd explorers are the same as the 4wd ones. i would just get the rear springs off of a normal 4x4 ford explorer and then see if you can get the front coils from a 4x4 explorer with the heavy duty spring package. You can tell if it has the heavy duty package because the rear leaf springs will have a 5 pack instead of a 4.

and yes you just have to flip the bolt in leaf spring pack and then install them. I gained about 2 inches in the rear and 1.5 inches up front, I really enjoy the way it rides now more than the lift. In my opinion its ride is how it should be and its cornering is far better.

well... i did the rear today, 2 hours to pull them from a 94. who designed the front mount that way! havent they heard of keeping it simple?! finally took the head of the bolt off with a hachsaw, and bent the ...ummm... stuffing out of the front mount to get the leaf out. looks nice though, may leave it this way for a while. would show pics, but only got one after
