Question CDR valve?

I have an 86' F-250 with a 6.9 IDI and i was going to put a turbo on it from an early 90's 7.3. (The turbocharged 7.3 was out of a school bus.) I read that i needed a "CDR valve relocation kit" in order for a turbo to fit. First of all, what is the CDR valve? Secondly, is using a turbo like this a good idea, or should I try and look in junk yards to find a decent turbo and parts?

CDR is a crank case depression regulator..... just a larger glorified PCV valve.
Located behind the intake..... it needs to be moved to the valve cover when turbo is installed.

Is it a big circular thing bolted to the top of the D. side valve cover? We had a 7.3IDI ATS swapped and this thing on the valve cover now leaks like a SOB. It has a tube that goes towards the intake but it will not seat on this valve cover thing. I was going to just block it off and be done with it, the way it is now oil smoke pours out of it.

My guess is the engine that was swapped in was not turbo'd and they used the old valve cover and broke this line.

You need a turbo air cleaner for the relocated CDR to work.

You need some way for crankcase pressure to be vented.

The stock 6.9 location was the rear of the intake.
Vapor from the valley pan gasket area was vented into the intake to be burnt.
Since the ATS turbo mount sits where the stock CDR was located, the CDR got moved to the rocker cover.
