The 2000 Excursion didn't come with the autolock feature. I tried to activate mine because I think it's a great feature and love it on my Lightning, but discovered the 2000 Excursion doesn't have it, so it can't be enabled.

Isaac, he has a PSD, so the last filter he'd wanna put on it would be a K&N.
As I eat hybrids pointed out, they don't filter well enough or seal well enough for the diesels.

Well, what's your budget? It's difficult to offer mod advice when we don't know the ballpark range you have to spend.
i could drop between 100-200....without my wife sniffing it out. Daddy money you know?
Well, with your budget being that low, you can throw out your question because whatever you end up getting, for that amount, it certainly won't be your best first mod.
It may be the best mod for that amount of money, but it won't be your best mod.
Personally, if it were me, I'd bank the $200 and continue to save until you can afford a DP-Tuner F5 chip with a couple tunes. But then you'll really want to get an exhaust, CAI, and gauges.
It gets expensive, fast.
That's my advice. Save until you have enough to get a modification that causes you to have such a huge grin you WILL NOT be able to wipe it from your face.
That "grin" mod would be the F5 chip from Jody at DP-Tuner.

Do those chips have eco settings for the long drives? We are planning a trip to Denver from Dallas and i would love to maximize my mpg on the way.
That said i have yet to be able to burn out the tires....

I have increased my overall mileage to just over 1 mile per gallon using Jody's 80 econo tune. Now, I have to say, while I truly believe the vast majority of the better fuel mileage comes from Jody's tunes (I have his 40 tow, 60 tow, 80 econo, and 120 tunes) I did have two other modifications I bolted on right around the same time I got my F5 chip.
I also added an AFE stage 2 pro guard 7 filter kit and an MBRP turbo back exhaust.
The 80 econo will blow your mind.
The 120 "fun" tune will make you howl like a cowboy winning his first rodeo!
With a light pressure on the brakes, I can easily roast my tires.
I dont have HID kit. I have the bulbs with the stock wiring harness. When i said 160 i was talking about the clear head lights and clear turn signal lights
I have a bone stock 2000 2wd ex 7.3L and i itching to do some low scale mods. At the moment i am pretty short on cash so a new turbo, nitro and adding a chip are a bit out of reach for me
Do you guys have any suggestions?
for the money you are talking about,
u may be able to look in the classifieds here for a used tuner like a superchips that would give you about 70hp AND improve mpg and throttle response...
Not the BEST of the BEST, but it was the first one I put on my 02 7.3L way back when....
This is of course cosmetic only but I really am happy with updating the front end with a 2005 grille. A couple of sellers on eBay have'em. It makes a huge difference to the look of your Ex.
It looked good but did not have the finished look till I updated the lights. I bought an aftermarket set off eBay. I just did'nt have the cash for 03-04 oem lamps.
Sorry for confusion. I bought an aftermarket clear set off eBay. I replaced my 2000 model oem lamps with them and they are currently on my Ex. I truly would have preferred to update with 03-04 oem lamps but did'nt want to spend that much cash.
I'll try to get ya a picture later today on this thread.
