I have read all of the post in this forum about the 2004-2008 rear power window. My rear window will not open. Boy I can't tell you how glad I am that it stopped working in the closed position. I want to troubleshoot it but don't know where to start. Can anyone help?
I think it might have something to do with the switch. Mine works when it wants too. I have noticed that sometimes the switch is lit up and sometimes it isnt. The sunroof switch not 1.5inches away from the slider switch is always lit up when my lights are on, and it is intermittent if the rear slider one is or not. I would start there, but havent had time to dig into it yet.
Thanks black04lariat, I suspected as much. I went to the dealership and spoke with the parts guys and he seems to think it's the motor. Go figure he would think the most costly item is the problem. Are there any troubleshooting steps that I can follow? I have and 04 lariat also.
Just had mine changed by the dealer. They said that the third brake had a leak and shorted the motor out. They also changed the light. No charge. Graham Ford Columbus Ohio. Im Happy (2004 lariat)
Do a search. I think I remember a thread about this once, but I dont remember anything about what was said...ha. I mean I guess it could be the motor, but to me, the switch lighting up or not wouldnt come into play if the motor was shot. I dont know. Is your switch still lit up?
I wish it was still under warranty, but that is not the case. I asked the parts guy at the dealership about the cost of the motor and we are talking $155 big ones. After reading the threads I now know where that water was leaking in from.
I read a thread about a quick check on the switch. It still lights up and one thread stated that if you activate the switch and the dome light dims then it's getting power. This does happen so I am almost willing to bet it's the motor. But my first step is to get some silicone and seal my third brake light, then try and find another (cheaper) source for the motor.
