I have a 96 351 Bronco. Is it difficult to replace the egr valve? From what I can see it looks like 2 bolts plus a big threaded piece with some rust blaster should make it easy to unthread. Am I missing anything or other thoughts? Thanks.
I don't know if my 94 351 is identical. I changed the egr then later changed the sensor on top of it. They are easy if you soak the tube nut a lot. I occasionally get an egr code in continuous memory and think if may due to the egr and sensor being different brands.
...(t)hey are easy if you soak the tube nut a lot....
That's what I had in mind. Just use as much PB Blaster as possible. OK, that sounds like a plan. Tired to getting reamed at these repair shops. Thanks.
Is that sensor on top also known as the DPFE sensor?

The PB Blaster worked for me. Do you have a DPFE sensor? If you do, you'll run into a problem because of a bracket.
It sits in front of the EGR. It's rectangular, about 2x3 inches. It has 2 rubber hoses going from it's bottom into 2 small metal pipes.
Yes, I will have to take a second look, but I beleive I saw that set up earlier today when I was examining the egr. If I have that, do you recommend replacing that?

It's hard to say. I'm no expert, but frankly, I doubt anyone is going to give you a definitive answer. As I have found out, these EFI systems are difficult to diagnose. I'm trying to clear a 332 trouble code, myself. I have replaced my DPFE, and it may have helped with an idle problem I had. Then again, a weather change may have helped, too. Next for me is the EGR. OR, I could take it to a Ford dealer and pay $300 +++++ for them to fart around trying to figure it out.
yes the EGR valve is easy to replace but take care with the nut on the bottom - the tube to which it is attached can become quite delicate as it has a corrugated section to allow it to flex. If this cracks you'll get all sorts of issues as exhaust gasses escape and burn your HT leads etc. Its a pain to change as you have to remove the Plenum.
they are cheap to replace in the USA and very expensive in the UK.
