Hopefully someone knows what to do here. My odometer readout isn't there anymore!! The backlight on the instrument panel works. Just no readout of odometer/temperature. I checked several fuses in the fuse box and saw nothing wrong. So how do I get my odometer back? This is the first time I've had a problem with my 04 FX4. Everything else is working great.
A friend's '05 had the bulb for the LED burn out just recently. His was some goofy, little, christmas-tree-light-looking bulb (not the regular 194) that took the dealer a couple of tries to order correctly. Maybe yours has the same bulb burnt.
I had something similar. I lost my lights in the odometer area at night in my '06 SCREW. I took it to the dealer and they said the whole instrument cluster had to be replaced. The dealer also has to give the mileage to the parts supplier so it can be pre-programmed. Once it is installed there is no changing it.

Does he have the XLT style odometer, outside temp., compass, low fuel display? The backlit portion of the diplay quit working on mine. The LCD (black) works, it just cannot be seen at night. I was hoping I could just change the bulb. If I have to change the cluster, I will skip it because it is out of warranty.
I think you're right. He has an STX, so I think it is an LCD with a backlight like you said so it's just not visible at night.
I'm not sure if he ever did get the right bulb yet. The parts catalog the dealers have must not make it very obvious what bulb it is or Ford changed the thing mid-stream or something.
