Changing head gaskets.
Hi all, I'm attempting my first head gasket replacement on my 390. Should I take off the exhaust manifolds and leave them attached to the exhaust and hanging in the engine bay; or should I disconnect the exhaust and pull the heads out with the exhaust manifolds attached??

Changing head gaskets.
I would pull the heads all the way out because you will need to do a lot of scraping to get all the old gasket material. IF you think you can get the manifolds off without breaking the bolts you can but otherwise I would leave them attached.
