lifter question

I have a 1970 250cs w/np435,,dana60,4.10,,390 2bbl,
the lifters on one side tap cause I think some valve cover gasket
glue slid down in there and hardened, because i remember
putting more on that side cause it was dumping oil,and
thats the side that taps.is there stuff that eats up
gasket glue that could be dumped in or is this a different
problem?how long do lifters last after they start tapping?
One more here.... I had third gear opened up to 60 miles
an hour w/np435 and 4.10s,31"wheels, what rpm would I
be pulling?

On the rpm thing, assuming the speedo is correct you would have been taching 4,430 rpm. This is what cranked out of the online rpm calculators using 1.66:1 as your final gear ratio in third and 31" diameter tires.
