distibutor question

okay have a question my 73 points if a mess i thought about buying a new one but i have also thought buying a new electronic, now the price on a aftermarket electronic is more then a oem reman eletronic, i have a complete eletroinc box and wiring off a 76 i have f 100, i was told it was a 351w but i am not sure i have not mesured the intake yet. my question can i buy a eletronic oem distibutor and do a way with the points on i have i my truck??

No, you couldn't just put it in. You would need to rewire the system & get the right ignition box as well. I used a Pretronix once, it comes in a kit that replaces the points in the factory dist. for around 80$, & you don't need to change the wiring or need a box it worked great. Maby Accel or Mallory might make them too.

Screw the duraspark and get the Pertronix, it is so much better and simpler.

If you decide to get a new distributor, consider our custom curved Duraspark Distributor built with our new Full Length Oil Impregnated Bronze Bushing. The full length bushing improves timing stability and spark scatter. If stock appearance is not an issue, take a look at our one piece D.U.I. Distributor. Get the Pertronix and one of their flamethrower coils and be done with it. It fits inside the dizzy and keeps the factory look.
