"Yes", and has been mentioned, tires are very important as well for good rear traction. With my TT, I don't need to add weight to the bed, but with a TT and good tires, you'll laugh at snow and ice, "well" maybe not laugh, as snow and ice should allways be respected, but you will gain confidence.

Sounds like the tru trac is the way to go i knew they were pretty much a lifelong unit because they didn't have clutches but there still a limited slip. Any idea on cost for installing a tru trac or regular clutch type ls? Thanks again

The shop charged be 250.00 to install it. I'ld call around and get the best price, I didn't, I use the same shop I allways do. I deal with 2 mechanics, my ford dealer and a local shop here in town, I kwew ford would cost more, so just had the local shop do it. I may have been able to get it done cheaper if I would of checked around. Rieder racing has a good price on the tru-trac and other lsd's, I got my TT on sale a couple of years ago for 360.00. They average around 400.00 for the ranger, but Reider has sales and deals and what have you.

If you are somewhat mechanically inclined, and don't plan on changing the gears, you can easily install a carrier, as long as you have a dial indicator and decent understanding of everything back there.

a TT is a nice unit, but if you're a budget minded person a stock LSD will be just fine and dandy.

i've gotta agree w/ Wendell, if it weren't for how my truck is built and used, I wouldn't have a selecable locker on it. Go for a truetrac, the street manners are great, and you get that 'locked-diff' pull when you need it.
The Ox Locker is really nice, but for the price, you're better off w/ a TT
