Teknosia Prodigy or P3?

Gents/Ladies,

I am torn between the Teknoshia Prodigy or the new P3. Does anyone have any experience with the P3? Any issues with it? Does it work as well as the Prodigy? I recently returned the crappy Hopkins Impulse I bought as it was a complete piece of junk. I would not reccomend a time-based controller.

Any thoughts or comments would be very much apprecieated.

Thanks!!

What do you need it for? If its just your average trailer, the Prodigy will do fine. Unless you need the ability to use electric over hydrolic brakes Prodigy will do what you want. I've had a lot of people tell me that the P3 is extremely difficult to use, especially while driving. They are both the same controller when it comes to electric brakes.

Hi grafekie,

Thanks for the reply. i have a 5K gross TT and my next TT will be around 7-8K gross. Sounds like the Prodigy is what I should get and will be easier to use. I only go camping 6-8 times per year.

Thanks for the resopnse.

Any other thoughts?

Yeah, for $50 less the regular Prodigy will do the trick Its the same controller as the P3, but the P3 has more controls and more menues, and $150-200 vs $100

I installed a P3 to use while towing my 15ft TT.... it performed beautifully, no problems and... to me anyway, was easy to set up and use. I got it off craigslist for $60, new still in the box and wrapped in cellophane.

Thumbs up P3

I installed a P3 in my SD (see sig)...and the unit works as intended. I really like the LCD...and the menu's are not that difficult once you get used to them. The config to my HTT...was a snap and works GREAT!

I enjoy putting the LCD screen on the volts out-put of my SD. Just nice to see the voltage live.

I had trouble with my Voyager... "snapped" the brakes off when I released them. I ended up going to the regular Prodigy, and the braking is much smoother now. Most people wouldn't care, the snap was pretty minimal, but those horses feel every jolt back there in the trailer so its important to me to have the smoothest ride possible.

My Prodigy came in the mail yesterday, and while I don't have it installed yet, you can ABSOLUTELY see the quality of this unit! I am anxious to try it out. I am sure the P3 is great too, but for the 6-7 times per year I tow, the Prodigy will do just fine. It's also highly reccomended by the members over on RV.Net.

Thanks again!

I own a campground, tow all sorts of campers, and have hundreds of others come through each season, my choice is the prodogy, simply the best brake controller I have ever used, would highly recommend to anyone.

Thanks
