I am thinking about getting a slide in camper for my F250 Short bed. Anyone have any recommendations on what to look for. Any worries about buying one a few years old. I know nothing about slide in campers or campers period. I do know I am getting too old for the tent!
pop ups would be better for mileage
electric jacks are a plus.
you may to raise the base up as our cabs are pretty high. 2000 or newer campers should have the raise built in.
Sturdy tie downs are a must
If it is too heavy, you might want to consider air bags
I think I've seen units on the back of pop up campers. Weekends tells me you shouldn't need too much gas or water. And one battery should do you. Air means you'll be plugging in too.
Did a quick search, here's one, little spendy though, if you aren't driving serious miles a hard side maybe costs you 1 or 2 mpg over a pop up.
