91 4.0 Explorer Alternator Problem
1 Checked the 15 amp fuse for the alt in the fuse block. It is good.
2 Checked the wire from the starter relay (Connected to bat) that goes to the lug on the alternator. It checked good, which I think that means the fuseable link is good.
I looked at the wiring diagram here http://www.autozone.com/az/cds/en_us...rInfoPages.htm
On the 3 pin on the alternator plug I have
Pin "A" is hot 12v all the time
Pin "I" I have nothing. I think I should have 12v with ignition on. This wire goes to the charge indicator then to the ignition switch.
Do I need this 12v on Pin "I" to get this thing to charge??
I thought the 12v on Pin "A" was the exciter voltage.
Does anybody know about this?? Thanks in advance.
