Valve stem seal replacement

I can't seem to figure out how to get the spring retainer off. Any tips would be appreciated (1972 F100 360). I have the spring compressor and air fitting but after I compress the spring I don't know how to get the retainer off. Thanks

Valve stem seal replacement

Once the spring is compressed you need to tap the retainer down to get it away from the locks. Once the locks are out the retainer will come off of the stem.
