Timing light with glow plugs? Wouldn't you have to have a much more sensitive inductive pickup on the timing light to get it to fire the light from a glow plug voltage?
I've never heard of it, but I suppose it could be done.

Uhh...no.

You use a test light, not a timing light. All you do is connect one end of the light to the battery (+) and the other to the glow plug (-), what you are doing, is grounding (-) the light through the glow plug.

This assumes the glow plug is installed in the engine, but you also have to disconnect the glow plug from the engine wiring harness, or the light can ground through the harness and give you a false reading.

hi all

david85 is correct you use a TEST light NOT timing light!
as for opening up the intake all you can do is build a ram air type system
i built one and put in 3.5 inch exhaust the exhaust system gave me the most noticeable power.

Check out some of my pics for an idea to open up your intake. It does make the truck louder in the cab, less black smoke, and a slight power gain.
