Darn thing just chatters upon start up. If I get the chatter to stop, the glow plugs will go through the normal sequence and the truck will start.
This problem started with the "buzzing behind the radio" noise but I was finally able to issolate the problem when my truck would not start this morning.
MY TRUCK: 2000 4WD AUTO
WHAT I KNOW: IT IS DEFINATELY THE INJECTOR DRIVE MOD RELAY THAT IS CHATTERING
I GOT HOME TODAY BUT NEED TO WORK IN THE MORNING. URGENT HELP WOULD BE GREAT.
Thanks,
Bill

Reason: Urgent
Check for tightness and corrosion of battery terminals, charge and or replace batts, have alterantor checked at auto parts house tomorrow. I know that sounds like basic BS, but 99% of the time that it is posted about under dash clicking ,chattering, dash and interior lights blinking, it is due to low voltage. Your truck needs a minimum of 10.5 VDC during starting to run the GPR,IDM,PCM,Injectors,etc.. You can check your batt under load by testing batts with a multimeter while someone is cranking the truck if the VDC falls below 10.5 then it may turn over but it is not going to start.
I'm with BD on this. Check the easy stuff first. The IDM ought to throw a code if it heads south. Low voltage relays will click and whatnot when sufficient voltage is not present. When the truck runs a bit it may recover as the GPs turn off allowing sufficient voltage in the system. If your charging system is weak, you can replace relays all day long to no avail.
Thanks for the response. As if I wasn't having enough problems that day, my computer died while awaiting responses. Just got a new lap top so I can continue with life.
I am going to charge the batts tomorrow (independantly) and see if that solves the problem. My alt. is putting out 14.7 volts. I just replaced both batteries 2 years ago. I know that is a while but still seems short for batteries. If they are bad, I will be looking to improve my charging system.
