It helps prevent an egr cooler failure and puking. No hp benefit.

I can't answer your question. Hopefully someone will be along that has installed a delete pipe on their ride and can help you out. However, the four biggest problems with the 6.0 from a reliability standpoint have been the head gaskets, turbo, EGR, and EGR cooler (in no particular order). With a delete pipe, you eliminate two of the four problems. One day I'll get mine done for that reason alone.

It won't necessarily make your turbo spool faster. That's more in programming.

Go to http://www.elitedieseleng.com/60.htm and look at there Turbo up-pipe kit. I installed mine tonight and what a difference...Faster Turbo spooling, better MPG. This pipe removes the baffel in side to direct the EGR gasses, comes with a block off plate to stop exaust from entering the EGR cooler. Takes about 3 hours to install, not to bad...I own a 2005 King Ranch 6.0L, no lights or codes after the upgrade...

i had no codes with mine unplugged, but i have the sct and my tunes eliminate the egr function anyway.

the delete will not do anything noticeable for performance, but my truck usually "feels" faster after every mod anyway.

The install took 3 hours. I have no codes or lights. I have noticed a little performance gain around town, the biggest gain is I wont be getting exaust back into the intake robbing me power and decreasing exaust temps. The next upgrade is I am plannig on installing new head studs before any programmer.

I too am thinking about replacing the head studs after 100k which is only 16k miles away for me, but have been told the engine has to come out to change them.

CA Truck ?????

Hi all,

For those with a CA truck, does anyone know if there will be codes showing? This EGR delete mod, along with a new muffler, is the only thing I have thought about doing on my truck...if there is not a computer code issue. Otherwise, I am happy with all aspects of the trucks stock power.

TIA,

JJ

Motor out or lift the cab. Now is a good time to check the heads for surface flatness also. If they're any out at all then have them decked, but no more than .008".
