I went out to Amigo's to see if I could find a 89-95 Mustang 5.0 computer. They had only 3 cars which all ready had them removed. Lots of useless 2.4L ones but maybe 5 stripped 5.0L cars. Hell, Bucks got like 6 2.4L Mustangs. These cars are almost 20 years old yet you can't find parts.
Also finding a 5spd from a 87-96 F-250/350 with the 5.8L is hard. F-150 parts are a dime a dozen but anything bigger not much luck. Amigo's doesn't have any but they'd want a fortune anyways. Bucks doesn't get any 3/4 and up vehicles maybe for a few Econolines. The diesel versions are easy to find just the only difference is the front half of the case. SGI never has any listed for bid.
Why does Ford have to make such good vehicles that last forever?
It just makes it harder for us customizing guys to find parts.
Well back to E-bay for the computer and I may have to stick with my AOD tranny.
Thats weird that none of them had a cpu. I know alot of times they get fairly lazy and dont go look, maybe you might wanna go and check yourself at a few places?
Hey I could probably get one at pick-a-part in chilliwack fairly soon, thats if you want to add the cost of shipping, which shouldnt be too bad...PAP is pretty cheap for parts, but ive never bought a computer....and exchanging it would be an additional hassle if it didnt work right too... im moving there this weekend so i could probably grab it either this weekend or next if you are interested...
I'm interested and I'm not in a rush. So when ever it's best for you. If it has Bucks prices like $25 for the computer then I'd gladly take two just in case. Shipping is no problem. Just there are program codes that I'm interested in. They are easily read once the kick panel is off.
Here's the ones I'm looking for: In order of choice
I wrote that all down on a piece of paper and put it into my wallet...
$25 each plus tax is probably about what pick-a-part in chilliwack charges, they are the cheapest wreckers in the mainland here in BC...I always find what i am looking for there if I look hard enough... hopefully your computer(s) will be the same deal...
is there any numbers/codes I should give preference to if I have a choice out of say 3 or 4 of them?
I can even check it out first to see if they have any and let you know...or I can just grab them once i see them so they don't walk away
yeah shipping should be quite cheap and I will obviously get a receipt...they do have either a 30 day or 90 day no questions asked replacement part policy...if you bring something back and they dont have anymore of them, they will give you your money back... happened to me on a mitsubishi engine once...they gave me back my $150 no probs...
they sell like wiper motors for $7.95, heads for $39, taillights for like $5... I will find out the price before I do buy it if they are over $25
just looked and it dosnt look like they have any 5.0 computers either sorry man...but i will keep an eye out
does it have to be a mustang computer? Im guessing yes, because I know the XLT F150 computer has to be from an XLT model... but not sure about mustang computers

The problem with the 5.0 Mustang computers is that there are so many people converting 4 cyl cars to V-8 the computers and wiring harnesses are a high demand item so they go fast and the wreckers know it so they charge a premium.I have never seen a fuel injected 5.0 Mustang at the Buck's in Regina as they generally get sold by sealed bids at SGI so they go for more money than Buck's is willing to pay.I have seen quite a few 5.0 T-bird/Cougars but that probably wouldn't help you.
