fuel filter @tank switch?

fuel filter @tank switch?
has anybody removed the fuel filter at the (tank switch over) . Dont really know what to call it. but the other day a person told me there is a filter (non serviceable) at the part that switches between the 2 fuel tanks on my 94 F 250 5.8 , he said just take it out , and throw away, its non serviceable, and let yur in line filter do the work...has anybody ever done this??
