Service Engine Light

i have a 1999 ford ranger. Recently my service engine light came on. So i took out my odbII reader. Came up with an error code that needed me to replace my egr valve. I put on a new one and light went out. Next day light is back on. I put my code reader back on and it gives me re13 and then error. I diconnected my battery and light went out. Again next day light is back on. I guess im trying to find out why i cant get code or what esle could be problem

Get some electrical contact cleaner and start cleaning all of those puppies carefully look for any corrosion! If you end up finding some a dab of crc dielectric grease in the aerosol can!! after you clean it will keep it clean in the future!! If you replaced a component that was indicated in a scan and it don't fix the problem start checking wires and connectors for breaks, wear spots, corrosion!! It could be one tiny wear hole in a wire from the motor vibrating and then making contact with metal every 500th bump only or when your motor twists on a hard take off!! Put your glasses on and start hunting!! Might as well double wrap suspicous areas with tape and zip ty up any loom hitting on metal edges, ETC. Good Luck!!
