Well I pulled my 15K trailer with my '02 PSD up to as high as 8,500' going up the easter Sierra's on Hwy 395. It's got an Edge Evo on it and I had it on the "tow" mode. Where I got down to as low as 25 mph on my '91 460 (gasser with Bank's headers), I was able to hold almost 50 mph with the diesel. But....
I ran EGT temps as high as 1460 to do it! Scary for me as I heard some of the guys say don't go over 1350. I wasn't even running full throttle and had it in 2nd at about 3,000 rpm. I have the probe mounted in the exhaust manifold, just about 2" downstream of the last cylinder. What do you guys think?
First thing is if you are running a tuner or chip, It is a good thing to get aftermarket exhaust, 4" or 5". I guess you have gauges if you know what your EGTs are. What was your trans temp?
The Edge Evo pulls info from the factory probes. The Trans Temp went up to 215 and the OIL went to 254 but the coolent temp was OK the whole way. I think a larger exhaust size help the EGT but by how much I don't know. thanks for the reply. G
