May enter a local truck pull
Thats because its hard to find anyone who has a 8.1l. Probably like 7or 8 of em in the US.
The tranny has alot to do with the "Planting you back in your seat" feeling.
I have my tranny firmed up, and at 45mph in OD you nail it and it shifts in 2nd and plants you back pretty hard an thats with 3:73's)
As far as I'm concerned you can take an 8.1l Ali combo and stick it where the sun don't shine and thats where it belongs.

For the tranny I bumped up the shift pressure to 20 percent. Stock is zero the max is 25 percent. Shifts are firm at partial throttle but not jarring at WOT the shifts are quick and a little firmer but no banging or jarring. I upped my shift points as well I think 3mph for 1st and 2nd and 2mph for third.
With these adjustements the tranny is still not perfect, however it is a far sight better than the stock tranny tune. If you floor it at WOT the tranny will still shift into 3rd before it goes into 2nd gear, but it shifts tons quicker than stock.
For the Diablosport Predator. I have my dads truck set up at 80 for partial throttle shifts and 120 on WOT shifts. 120 is one notch over half and shifts are not as firm as on my truck but not sloppy. I set his truck up with similar shift points as mine. One thing I didn't not adjust is the Torque Modulation and I'm somewhat hesitant to do so, I don't want to harm the tranny.
I recommend firming things up a bit but don't get carried away. The 2 tuners listed above can do possible harm if you don't know what your doing or up pressures too much. Best to start out conservative and slowly adjust to your liking.
I do believe Chevy sets their trannys up somewhat differently than Ford does. I stopped along side of a 1500 silverado (Around 05') at a stoplight which was pulling a small speedboat that I would say weighed about 2500lbs. The light turned green and he spun his tires a little just trying to get going which was somewhat surprising to me. The road wasn't wet other than a light morning dew. I was pulling my little 16' boat with the stock tires and had no spinning problems. That alone told me the Chebby and the Ford definatly set-up differenty. Even with the tuning I've done power delivery is very smooth. The stall speed, torque modulation and etc. on the Chebby may be the reason for it "Feeling" of power.

They could also take an off the shelf X Cal 2 or SF and add your tune on it or make a new tune to work with your blower setup. If your willing to spend the $$$ I know that a good SCT dealer can get you set up.
Another option would be the Banks Transcommand. It does not rely on a reflash, it just a box that wires in with the electronics somewhere.
I never really dealt with shift kit mods to the valve body, so I can't really comment on them. I just like the reflash because it is easy, can be adjusted and is not permanent.
I never touched the tranny cooler either. If the Motorhome cooler is larger than the stocker than it would no doubt help keep the temp down. I don't tow very heavy so I never felt the need to try it.
not a good place to make your argument.... a change in venue to neutral ground would net you much support...
i don't get into all the tech stuff to much, and have been a GM man most of my life... my first venture in the ford world and V 10 world in many years, has not netted the results i had hoped for so far....
i will soon put it to a 10,000# towing test, and hope i don't prove to myself why i have been a GM man all these years... i have already pulled this trailer with a burb and already know on handling the burb will out preform my X, at least as it comes from the factory... hopefully the V10 will do better in the preformance dept., than the X in the handeling dept.
