Hey everybody, I have a 1990 pass car engine in my 84 F150 and just installed the F4TE truck cam in it. Now it will miss under load but not at idle. All my plugs and wires are new. Also what firing order does the F4TE cam have? I first had it wired to the original 302 firing order and it ran like total crap so I changed it to the 302HO and the 351W firing order. I read that the F4TE has to have the regular 302 firing order but I don't think it does. Is it possible I fouled one of my plugs when I had the wrong firing order? I was almost ready to put my other cam back in. haha
If the cam is for a truck with an auto, it's HO order, if it's from a 5 speed truck, it's standard firing order. I have no clue why they did that.
I'd check your plugs just in case.
Ok, I just put all new plugs in again and checked the firing order and it is the HO firing order. It's still the same. Doesn't miss at idle but under load it does. I'm about to pull the cam out and put it back the way it was.
