I just installed a new air filter. I rejected the suggestion to install a snorkel and opted for the non-moisture non-water proof Napa 6637. After I removed the stock air housing I used a 4" exhaust elbow, one end into the stock accordian rubber hose and the other end into the filter.
The fit between the elbow and filter left a little to be desired as it was a loose fit but.....with the help of a couple of wraps of Gorilla Tape (Good stuff) a snug fit was accomplished followed by another wrap around the filter and the elbow.
Now for the question: When I removed the stock air base I observed a two (2) wire thing-a-ma-bob type of prob that was stuck into the housing. What is it and what does it do. I just put it off to the side and left it connected.
that is the air intake sensor, contrary to popular belief it has no effect at all on the engine, it is used only to activate the exhaust backpressur valve, just tuck it in the inner fender and forget about it
