I'm sure most folk don't throw stuff away too soon .... right?? Well .. I did.
The 1966 F100 rear axle (9") I'm putting in my 48 F1 had a very rough oil level plug in it, so while cleaning up the shop a while back ... I tossed it. I figured no big deal ... I'd just buy a new one. Wrong!! It turned out to be one that is not readily available. It's not a pipe plug, but rather is a flanged plug with much finer threads and the nominal size appears to be 7/8". I know I can machine up a weld on piece that I thread with pipe threads, and that would certainly work, but I really would like to keep this looking as it originally did.
So the question is, where can I get a replacement?? I've not found a parts house or a dealer that seems to have such a plug.
That's not a rare rearend so I would guess if you took a trip to the neighborhood auto junkyard, you'll be able to find one there. Another place might be a shop that puts rearends together. You might even be lucky to find one that would work at your local Lowe's or Home Depot.
