Need some 35's for my truck and have heard very good things about the Toyo M/T. Just looking for some more opinions. Specifically, how they perform in different conditions, tread life, noise level, and do they affect fuel mileage differently from an A/T tire? Right now I have 285/75/16 BFG ATs and looking to move up to a 35/12.5/16 (315/75R16). Let me know how they work and what you got them on.
I have 35x12.50R17's on mine. Granted I only have a little over 1000 miles on mine, but I love them. When on the road you can hear them, but they have yet to be louder than my 6.0 at any speed, especially with the windows up. For the little I have had them, they do great on dry and wet pavement, and I had them through one mud hole pulling our 18' trailer and had no problems crawling right through it. Wasn't much of a mud hole, but i have been through it before with the old Rugged Trails and they spun all the way through it. The M/T's never spun once. So I am sold, I will be able to give better reviews in a few more months when I get some miles on them.
If money is an issue, I would stick with the BFG's there cheaper and a proven tire,
On the other hand if money is no object then try the TOYO's I have also heard good
things about them. I myself will be concidering my options on these two tires soon.
I just bought my 37's about a month or so ago and they've performed great. I had the Toyo A/T's prior to these and the gas mileage appears to be about the same. They have a great sound (not too loud but loud enough to let other cars know you're coming) and great look. They are a bit pricier but I drove down and picked mine up from National Tire and Wheel, paid like $310 a tire I believe (everywhere else was ~$375). I haven't taken them out wheeling yet but I imagine they'll perform as good as my old SSR's and PJ's, if not better...
Only real downsides that I've heard is road noise (downside? well, some seem to think so) cost, and life expectancy. Then again this goes with pretty much any m/t vs a/t. I've heard all good reviews though about the Toyos and imho they look bad@$$!
I did a bunch on research before I bought mine. I have been reading about people getting 40k+ out of these tires. So I figured I would give them a shot. We will see how things go.
I have the 33x12.50x18 on my truck, they were very spendy, $1400,,,
The road noise is not too bad for an agressive tread, they did pretty good in the snow and ice last winter. I have about 10k on them, very little tread wear so far..
Yeah, the sizes for larger rims are usually quite a bit more expensive. Thats why I think I want to stay with a 16". I also like the look of more rubber and less rim, I think it makes the tire look bigger. But anyways, the 315-75-16 Toyos I've found are anywhere from about $225 all the way up to $325, with the average online price being about $240 plus about $30 shipping per tire.
I put the 35in toyo mt on my stock 18in rims on my truck.iv driven close to 20,000km so far and the tread is probley down about 40%.They seem to get a little louder as they wear.i took them off for the last little while to save for winter.i put some kuhmos 37in venture mts on and they are rated also 10ply,and was the same price as the toyos for a bigger tire.I think i am likeing the kuhmos a little better.both are gteat in the mud,but the kuhmos are also a little lighter per tire according to my tire guy.
