Cracked Transfer Case Motor
As it applies to the thread at hand, this set of unusual circumstances & the truck getting stuck has been the only other time that I had heard of a transfer case cracking in a new'ish Super Duty.
From the Owner's Manual:
If you have questions or concerns, or are unsatisfied with the service you
are receiving, follow these steps:
1. Contact your Sales Representative or Service Advisor at your
selling/servicing authorized dealer.
2. If your inquiry or concern remains unresolved, contact the Sales
Manager, Service Manager or Customer Relations Manager.
3. If you require assistance or clarification on Ford Motor Company
policies or procedures, please contact the Ford Customer Relationship
Center at 1-800-392-3673 (FORD).
Could a rock really jump up and crack it, and the motor on it?
If you drove over an obstacle, even one that you did not see, and did damage to the truck.... wouldn't that be under your Collision coverage? And, therfore, at fault? I would assume your insurance would want a report from Ford, before they would cut a check. Maybe your dealership could word any report to show that a flying rock could do the damage.
When my son was recently in involved in an accident, the GEICO guy that came to my house to inspect the truck, really knew his stuff. He was a lot more than a photo taker, he knew structural stuff, metalurgy, etc.
How much did the repair cost ya, Doc?
I do agree with that you should start making your way through the appeal process at Ford. We all know the cash problems Ford is having, but it is definitely still worth a try.
Tricky situation....hope things work out for ya.

His comprehensive covered it (Geico), all they needed was a quote from the dealer on the repairs.
