Question need help with bed

that doesn't sound good! But i need to know if anybody knows the difference between a 1950 1 ton pickup bed, and a 45 1 ton bed. They appear to be the same, but i'm not going to spend several hours driving to dig one out ot the mud that won't work. Obiously the fenders are different, and I would assume that the holes for fender mounts are different, and would have to be filled and new one's drilled, but other than that, I think they are the same. with the possibility of the tailgate latch being in a differnt place on the roll of the tail gate? any help would be appreciated.

The box is identical except for the fenders as you have already guessed. The earlier beds had an optional bedside tire mount which was not offered on the 48-52 trucks.

This may or may not pertain...buty 1/2 ton beds have some differences...the indentation for the fender, and also the lower piece above the running board.

They are "swapable", but not the same for a restoration...again, this applies to the 1/2 ton beds, 1-ton might be a different story.

ok, I can steal parts from the three beds then and make one for the restoration. so then I need to kow if there was a valance panel across the back of the box, or corners, or what, the three I have have all been baddly mutilated at the rear. I think what I will probably do is to put my original curb side side and bed frame on the truck with a better front, street side, and rear cross channel. any tips on replacing the wood cross channel support? ideas if the fastner kits and misc. parts kits they sell for the half tons wil fit the one tonns?
Thanks for your help.

does anybody know how many cross member boards are in the bed?
next question is has anybody seen a rear valance panel for the bed? It looks like there was one there at one time, but after looking at four beds, I only have the torn off corners, and spot welds. nobody seems to sell one in the sheet metal catalogs, and I am confused? thanks for your help.
