ok...next issue on the block is that my autolock system , when touched, door opened etc... starts to cycle and will not stop.....until after i hold down the door lock for a few seconds..... sound familiar ?? hopefully an easy fix ??? tried to pull a fus....but THEN when i found one in the dark...ext lights stayed ON...wouldnt go OFF till i replaced fuse ! SO strange... but any replies are GREAtly appreciated.
is a 96 EB 5.8 and the auto locks keep unlocking and locking until i hold down the locks then MAYBE they will stop after a dozen cycles or so....maybe actuators ???
Has anything electrical been worked on recently? Or has it just always done it? Does it have an aftermarket stereo and alarm in it? Put your truck in your sig so we know what you got exactly motor size, trans, etc!!!
just got this last week...a/c didnt work.....found the same issue on here...repaired in 5 mins...a broken wire powering the lp a/c switch.
locks had no issues until yesterday when after manually locking/unlocking/hit remote lock or unlock , using key in lock or even pushing handle button...it starts to go on its own....until pressure is put either on key or interior round lock button.
no other electrical work has been done to my knowledge.
control panel screen on the top left column!!! Could be the relay inside it is partially magnetized and it's bouncing or it is weak, tap real hard on that relay or the control board and see what that gets you!! Maybe somebody with that system will have a better answer for you! I don't got that system but trying to help!!
I do not think that there is suposed to be a "auto lock" feature on the Bronco just the power locks that have to be manualy engaged. If they are cycling on their own there ust be a short on one of the switches either arm rest.
USUALLY i just use driver door so drivers side only does it....until i use remote or the lock/unlock-all button on the door , then they both cycle.
i know in an acura i have....theres a rubber stop (inside/at) the actuator that wears and causes this issue, whereas the actuator doesnt think it has closed/opened enuf...thought it could be the same but i never dug into the acura issue.
if it was a switch....wouldnt it do it all the time ???
My door and window switch both act up I have to go in there and clean the contacts they are pretty big but they do get funky. Becareful with the lock tabs when you seperate the two pieces or you will be supergluing!! It would be a good idea to spray your door down with water and then open up the door panel and see if water is getting in there if it is you will eat some actuators!!!
WELL.....pulled drivers panel after work ....watched acutator, and it seems like they ARE weak or maybe dirty....went to pass side, used switched about 20 times...seems like pass side hangs up a bit more....kept using both switches and now the problem is gone.....SO.....seems like they are dirty and need cleaning ...ill have to do it this weekend.
Thanks!!
