2000 F350 V10 - just noticed the other day that the tach is not working. I looked thru my Haynes manual and I have one of the $25 service manual CDs.....nothing I can find on the tach at all.
As far as I know, it is only the tach that isn't working. The truck runs fine otherwise. There has been no modifications to the truck.
Does anyone know which color wire goes to the tach? It probably starts at the PCM and goes to the tach. I need to look for a broken wire, a loose connector or loose contact in the connector. It would make the job easier for sure if I knew the wire color.
Thanks
It does get it's info from the PCM, but the days of looking for a wire are gone. It get's the rpm info, the engine temp, and several other things through a communication network. Much like a small LAN network you would have at work or at home. The instrument cluster, PCM, ABS module, and several other body modules that interface the door switches and door locks, all communicate on this network.
Sad to say, the only people I know who have a scanner that can get on the network and troubleshoot are the dealers.
