I just recently got my 2001 F250 7.3L ps Turbo. I got rid of my 1992 F250 7.3L non turbo and I want to do some performance mods to my new truck as my old truck was powerfull, but was slow as dirt.
I'v been reading a lot about the 6637 intake, i may do that soon along with exhaust.
What are some other performance mods that can be done to my truck? I know theres a lot so if you can, start out less expensive so I can work my way up.
One cheap mod would be to straight pipe the stock exhaust. Another would be the 10k or 18k mod which adds a little extra fuel down low i believe. I tried the 10k and it sounded like crap at idle so I removed.
When you get bored with the cheap mods your next step should be gauges and then power adders. The usual setup of gauges is: pyro (egt's), trans, and boost.
Then I would get an aftermarket exhaust and a chip. There are several good tuners out there for chips but I plan on purchasing from dp tuner. Jody is very popular and is a sponsor here.
Yep -- I say intake, exhaust, gauges, chip (don't mess around -- get the DP!!). That will get you started. After those basics, you'll start down the PMS road which has many stops along the way. Enjoy the ride!!!
Exhaust Gas Temp. Shows how hot your exhaust is. You will want this so you can see if your exhaust is getting a little warm after you do all these upgrades. You also want Boost gauge so you can see your improvment and last, if you have an auto trans. a trans temp gauge is a must.

What he means is, these engines with a good chip can produce above 1250* F in the exhaust temp. if you run for a while at above 1250* F heat soak starts to set in and things(valves, pistons blocks) start to deform, crack, melt....You get the picture. thats why you need to know how hot your engine is. The cooling system is over designed, so you probably wont even want a coolant temp guage.
Everything they say is correct and they way to go is the 6637 filter, I had one on my 01 and it really made a difference in throttle response and its cheap. If you want you can have mine, my truck has just been totalled and with a child on the way ::sigh:: I don't believe its smart to get another truck when I have a ranger that gets me where I need to go. I love these trucks to death but family above pleasure. Just PM me your address and I'll get it to you, slightly dinged but wasn't damage and it comes with the the adapter (piece of exhaust pipe).
go ahead and buy the edge juice w/ attitude its expensive but well worth it on level 5 my 0-60 time was 5.1 seconds and i was in a damn near 8 thousand pound truck!
04 f250 6.0
4 inch straight pipe from turbo back
edge juice w/ attitude
2.5 inch lift
35 inch toyo A/T's
billet grill
arjr111 those mods look great, i'll start in on them once i get a bit more of my truck paid off.
What is a good piller gauge mount to get? Some are cheap but look it too, any bad or really good ones out there? And do most all gauges fit in these pods?
decent hp gains from edge $600
supporting mods around $850
realizing after hanging around here you should have gotten the DP tuner priceless (well $400 actually but you get the drift!)
