This saturday is the big show held once a year in Murphy CA. It's at the Ironstone Winery. I have never gone before, but it is supposed to be very nice. The wife and I are taking the Crown Vic to see if it impresses the judges. There is supposed to be quite an assortment of vehicles. Jag
Looks like it is due east of Lodi, on Hwy 4, east of the Hwy 49 Junction.
It is a short ride from Oakdale, if we get Mike to attend will you teach him some class and how to sip wine with his little finger sticking out?
It should be the sort of outing you can take your wife to and let her enjoy going through the antique shops, with dinner at some hidden spot. Who knows, you both will enjoy the day and you might even get lucky!
I just wish the winery industry also brewed beer! The only wine I know anything about comes in gallon jugs with screw tops.
Lol !!! Yep, That's scary. I actually remember guys that did that. If my memory is functioning correctly I may have been there too. Sex, drug and rock and roll caused some damage I think. Who would have thought I'd see the year 2000?
This will be my first time there, but the word is that it is a FOOFOO sort of invironment that the wives love. My wife has been working hard helping me with all sorts of projects around the house so I guess she deserves a little pampering. I looked it up on mapquest and found out it's 81 miles from my house. For that kind of distance it better be great. For anyone that does deside to stop by, we'll be there with the 55 Crown Victory (red and white). John
Liz still is not speaking to me over our Tahoe trip, or I might try to attend with her. It is a car show, but sort of the difference between the box seats at a football game and the general admission. Or better, the difference between eating dinner at some beer joint and a fine restaurant where everyone is in evening dress.
You will see some fine fully restored cars - but no hotrods. It is well worth the experance.
We'd try to make it, I like Murphy's in general, but we have a Horseshow in Stockton on Sunday and Saturday will be a big prep day for my 12YO.
Not knowing very much about horse shows, I can't imagine what kind of prep would be needed. To me it seems all she would need to do is put on her riding uniform (if they call it that) and get on the horse. Or do you mean prep the horse? Brush it down, etc? In any case, I am sure your daughter will do well at this event like she did at the last one.
As for the event, my Ford is nowhere near showroom quality, and it is a bit of a drive for me so I will pass on it. I am again trying to get my brother's Ranger down here from Oregon, and need to start saving my pennies and my dimes for the flight up and the drive back.
This is a "new" horse for her Jim. Where she takes lessons, they wanted to retire one of their older (23 YO) lesson horses to a good home as she's getting to old to do jumping on, so we took her in (today) and will let my daughter take her to a few shows for walk/trot/canter, but she hasn't ridden this one much, so she'll need some "getting used to time" on her between now and then.
But in general, you're correct...just dress up, loosen up the horse and ride
