i came across a 1977 highboy with a divorced t-case and automatic...But the body isnt in to good shape... My body on my 76 f100 wouldnt fit since the mounts are in different places or could I fabricate them into the correct spots? He has a title for the truck... My only concern is the body rust on the truck..although he has another body for it but im not sure on the condition of it... I most likelly will just redo that whole truck and put my 302 in the 77highboy...Oh and it has 1 ton axles he says... Ima go take a look at it this weekend... If I buy it i dont know how I can get it to my house.... I have a buddy with a full size truck maybe I could go to U_haul and rent a car trailer for it...He wants $500.00 for the deal... Here is a link to it...
You can easily swap the body onto the highboy. The rear cab mounts are different, but there are templates already in the cab for the widened highboy mounts. Just drill those out. And you would have to drill new holes for the bed or make your own brackets to mount the bed too. Not that much work if you have a good body to swap out.
Looks to me like stuff has already been changed. That grill and hood, even the cowl emblems are not correct for a 77.
What does the title say, and does it match the VIN?
Oh yeah, the 1 ton stuff was not around until the 79 truck, so maybe the stuff came off of one???????
Maybe only 3/4 ton stuff under there.
The next question would be which D60 is up front. An early less desireable unit, or a later more desireable unit. Maybe just another seller claiming one ton, and it only has a D44 up there.
Worth looking into before you get your expectations too high.
last time i called u-haul they didn't have a trailor big enough to carry my 77 250 and that was only 4 months ago. not many places have trailors that big.

I had a buddy that had a 75 with 1 ton axles, the front had the strangest looking sealed ball type fitting where I had an axle & u joints...It also had storage compartments in the 1/4 's.....

Had he a 75 1 ton 4x4? Or maybe a 3/4 ton with a closed knuckle Dana 60 front axle with 19 slpine outer shafts. That would be the not so desireable front axle I was refering to in an earlier reply.
