Any one heard about the ship date for '03 trucks? I'm going to buy one soon, don't know if I should wait until the new one's come out or not. I don't want to buy a body style that's being changed.
The 2003 ordering guides are available. We are still ordering 2002's, but you can enter an order for a 2003 if you want. Expect to see the 2003's in September. There will not be a major change for the 2003 model year. There are a couple interesting packages (Heritage package, STX package). All upgrade stereos will be Pioneer (except in the STX, they get a Kenwood).
What is this I hear about the '03 F150 possibly having independant rear suspension like the Expy? Last week we had a Ford Partners Show at work and that's what one of the reps said. I feel myself leaning more and more towards another brand. Dodge is looking really nice these days, especially with the powertrain warranty.
rob_nc, there is some good if the f150 rear suspension was independent. think about it...the F150 with that suspension would take over the sport truck scene. i doubt that it will get independent suspension though. i understand it wouldnt be as much of a work truck, but thats why we have the f250 and the f350 which are all out mean, and the f150 is more of a stylish sport truck. as for going with dodge, good luck, i hear the gas mileage is hideous. my brother checked one out, out of curiousity and the sticker said 13 city for their v6. your choice though! FORD RULES.

The Expedition is weaned from the F150 chassis and now has its own. Do not expect to see IRS on the F150 until AT LEAST 04, and probably not even then.
I've been a Ford Truck fan for over 15 years, having owned 8 new ones in that period. The last 2 have been a real PITA!! My lease on the F150 (my truck) runs out next May. I was hoping the 4.5L PSD would be available by then, but I guess it won't be. Most people that buy the F150 only use them for commuting with an ocasional trip to the DIY center. I guess IRS wouldn't bother these people. I want a truck though and can't justify the added GVW.
Marty,, what else do you know about the '03 F150? Blue Oval News says that FMC is reconsidering its content since the company is in such financial turmoil right now.
It looks pretty much the same, some nice upgrades (Pioneer stereos etc.). The STX package looks like a nice change and I have already ordered a Heritage Edtion (Two-Tone Upper paint and special seats). The Lariats have the power slider as an option.
As far as de-contenting the new models, I believe they mean any redesigns/new designs will not get as many trinkets and possible packages. I don't think you will notice a lot of difference.
The 4.5L has been having problems with cooling and emmissions, so I doubt it will make the new F150 in '04. I would love a 6.5' box on a SuperCrew 7700GVWR and the 4.5L diesel for myself.
