I just ran into this exact same problem. I found that the washer hose was disconnected in 2 locations.

Take the passenger side plastic footwell cover off and you will see the washer connection that comes throught he firewall. Mine was disconnected there. I plugged it back in and ran the washer only to find fluid dripping from the rear headliner.

I then opened the rear window and took off the center piece of plastic and pulled the headliner down and found that another hose was not connected. They both felt like they fit snug when I reconnected them. Maybe some heat/cold cycles caused them to work loose?

Once I found those, the washer worked fine. I did some research and it sounds like this is not unusual for the hose to come loose.

Thanks k4uwc I have the same problem with my 2000 EX that I just bought. I figured maybe I had tore a hole in the rubber hose while off roading. Now I'll go check that footwell!....

On my 2005 I didn't have to do anything but pull the carpet back on the passenger side floor board area to find the fitting...the rubber hose had separated from the plastic fitting. I have toyed with using a strap tie lock on the hose but figured if there was some ice in the system that caused high pressure...it is MUCH easier to simply reconnect this fitting inside the truck.

I had heard that the other fitting was over the rear cargo area but thankfully only the passenger floor area was disconnected for me...but now know where both are incase this happens again...sounds like a VERY COMMON problem.

I have the same problem! I took the plastic cover off from the inside of the truck and found where the rubber hose had pulled out of the fitting so I put that back together only to find there's another disconnect under the heater blower! How do you get under there? it looks like I might have to pull the wheel well out but that doesn't look so easy.

I found my problem. Someone stuck pages from a Playboy in the trim that goes across the top of the rear hatch and disconnected the hose up in there.

DId you check the connection in the passenger footwell? Pull Back the carpet and at the base of the firewall, you should see a black connector. This is where the hose is probably disconnected. The only reason I mention this is I thought the same thing you did and was almost about to pull the fenderwell when my friend found where it had disconnected.

Hope that helps

Isaac

This is some good info. I have a 2002 Expy and the waser tank will empty in about 5 mile of driving. I suspect that it is the connection in the footwell of the passenger side due to the tank being higher than the connection. I will let ya know what I find out!

That was it. Behind passenger side kick panel. Soft rubber hose connector to the stiffer hose was disconnected. Simplest fix I have had in a while!
Thanks guys!

Still discovering what needs fixing on my new '02 Excursion. Rear washer is one - all the washer fluid is leaking out at the "trim that goes across the top of the rear hatch" as well.
