Hey If any of you live in the North Texas area. I,m taking the ole ugly drag truck out to Denton Dragway Saturday for some bracket racing. This is an FE powered truck and hoping to get it into the 8's this weekend in the 1/8. If any of you decide to come out look at my gallery and then look for me in the pits and say hey. Take a look at the truck, give comments, and ideals. I'm always looking for ways to improve the truck. Check out their web site for times and directions. http://www.dentondragway.com/
We aren't too far apart man! I am in OKC right now. Denton is closer than dallas to me. If you are interested in running a 1/4mile you might make the trip up to noble oklahoma. Their website is www.okthunder.com . I just put the 3.70 gears in and the minispool. The difference is mind boggling. I have no doubt I am in the 13's. I hope to go to the track tomorrow and see how far in to the 13's I really am. I still need to get some slicks though. I never thought posi would be so fun in a long bed truck though.
I can proably help you with the traction part. I have a source down here that I can get 29 x 10.5 Hoosier large staggers. The same tires that I run on my truck for around 50 bucks. These tires really hook up good with about 12 -15 psi in them and they will fit under the fenders of your truck with little work. Let me know if you are intrested. I will check for avalibility. Tony
I about a month in a half I will be very interested. Going on a little vacation here soon. I should have my timeslip posted about midnight CST. Are they used slicks? How are they so cheap?
These tires are new. They were originally made for dirt racing. IMCA outlawed them so now I can get them for around $50. Sometimes cheaper. They also have soft sidewalls and wrinkle up when you launch. Right now I'm getting constant 1.96 60ft times with the tires. I have them mounted on 10 inch wheels and air shocks in the rear for anti squat and clearance. These tires are not street legal and I would not recomend driving them on the street. I'm going to the strip on sat. to bracket race I'll let you know what it does I made some changes. Ie; adj. rockers,2" phonlic carb spacer. Next is to install a holley 750 double pumper. Hope to see you run some day Tony
Its whatever works man. 1.9 60 ft times aren't too bad. I am going to get some 10 inch wheels for the back before I get any tires. That way I can run street and slick tires. I'll make it a point to meet up with you someday but it won't be for a couple months. Good luck at the track. I hope you don't break anything except your record. I'm on my way down to thunder valley now.
Went racing today with some changes made to the truck and engine. Ran a best time of a 8.68 @ 72mph with a 1.69 60ft time. These are 1/8 mile times. What ya think. Tony
What in the heck RPM are you launching at?? Those are great 60 foot times. The 1/8 mile isn't bad either. I had a higher MPH at the 1/8th but you definitely had a better time. I'm liking those tires you have. Did both wheels come off the ground?
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 14-Jul-02 AT 01:39 PM (EST)]LOL.. Now tire lift. Just squated in the rear and took off. Felt really good. This was just the best time of the nite. Which just happened to be the first pass. It was a jaw dropper for a lot of people :-staun . Including me..I'm thinking there is a high 7 second pass in the trucks future. Now would'nt that open some eyes! Next step is a holley 750hp and a msd ignition in the quest for a 7 second pass. I'll keep you posted. OH yea the tires are bad ***!!!!! Hooking up all the way. See ya!!! I for got something Sean I'm leaving the line between 3000 and 3500 rpms.
