prob with install help asap please
I also have fuel delivery problems and will have a new fuel pump tomorrow. I'll also recheck all the rockers/adjustment to make sure an intake valve isn't remaining open...
scary problem is that there is a metal on metal rubbing back around the flex plate/cover between it and the tranny. It went it real hard with banging around etc so thinking the cover might have gotten bent or?
ideas? back at sun about noon with new fuel pump and checking valve train...also used two edelbrock 600 carbs 1405....one was working fine when i took it off a wheezer this evening...not a carb issue.
It's kinda like i'll have it running fine soon or will be removing it to see whats up...
reason I ask is i'm 145-150lbs on but one is 130....wondering if i might have the intake vlave a bit tight which, i'm thinking can cause a backfire back up through carb and lower cr a bit?but also since nothing had had a chance to seal who the hell knows eh?

will sort out the 130psi cyl once it's broke in a bit and had a chance to seal better.
still have the metal on metal rubbing when running...very loud....will be sorting that out.

anyway when tightening the starter it forces the cover in and you can hear it making contact with what i think is the inner (engine) side of the flex plate by the crank as it does get close there....
so what to do? in my wheezer build I forgot the cover plate alltogether...had a mechanic with me sho was used to chevy and it was overlooked...absolutely his fault
chevy guy- they don't have the cover plate but an access below like ford should in my new formulated opinion...but anyway we cut the lower section of the faceplate off and used it as an access cover then put washers on the starter bolts to make up the diff....works fine..anyway...ideas on how to deal with this? other than yanking it out or moving th tranny back etc? any one able to bend spoons here?

hopefully well be able to see the rub and fix w/o removing engine...but will be close if we do have to. CHIT
There was a hump in the cover that was (and apparently is) catching and rubbing on the flex plate and it makes the rubbing noise when running. there was marking suggesting it was rubbing etc...but we only moved the engine forward a few inches to ck it out....It was hard to get to and was probably not fixed well enough.
So the plan now is to finish getting the engine to run with the noise...to make sure there aren't any other issues and then I'll pull it and replace the cover or leave it off and cut the bottom for a cover while using shims for the starter.
This is a performance engine with a lot of performance parts and it's only my second build so while i'm disappointed I'm also like..."bring it on"...but obviously a bit upset.
Pretty sure the tc was installed correctly though i had to reinstall once as it was pulled out when trying to originally install the motor...it is definitely installed correctly now...it is a new tc and I did spin it when installing w/o noise. but who really knows at this point.
It really isn't running well yet and i'll remove a 4" carb spacer that may not be working well with the open edelbrock open plenum. I'll put the weiand on when it's off and quit screwing around with what its and propane...the bottom line is probably the velocity of the dual and will more likely work with the spacer for more volume and give me clearance for the hei distributor...
two long days of frustration. hopefully tomorrow will be better. then work.
any ideas please sound off...still could be just about anything at this point i guess but i really think i have it narrowed down. will also be checking valve train. especially #2
removing the engine....a got foot anyway to get to flex plate if i can't see and fix the problem it will come all the way out...and go from there...
won't know till SAT.
