that IS consolation...I'll have 4 extra hands on Sat and we'll get er worked out his time...i'll be re-checking the valve train and swapping intakes while they get it prepped to pull and install. think i'll put the weiand on there.
got it out--- actually about a foot forward...could have, and in retrospec, should have taken it out.
but got the cover plate off- that was the issue- it was sprung and rubbing...then after i got it back in...water in freaking oil.
so removed intake and pass side head...looks ok I think...#2 cyl was down 20lb in compression but the engine has only ran twice for about 10 seconds total so nothing important- like the rings- have sealed...still pulled 150lb in all but the one cyl.
not disheartened as of yet...a little pissed but in a healthy way....first performance engine and only 2nd build over all...will figure it out.
Plan: will remove water pump and recheck the cover behind it...but i think it's ok as i was looking for pin holes when I used it. then I will put the head back on...hook up the radiator and pressurize the system. since there isn't any oil in it i'll dye the water and see if i can get it to leak...if so I'll take off the left head and try again...and then remove the whole thing and cram it up the machine shop owners hiney...after he finds the crack that he missed....ha ha.(i mean that in the most Chrisitan way...of course)..i had the heads and block cleaned and tested but the block was sitting on a crate for a decade...off the ground and covered...by an fte guru who knows his stuff. I really hope it was my fault or just a thing vs machine shop missing something when I paid them a lot of dough to thoroghy ck it all out.
